Upcoming Swiss Federal Assembly Elections

The coming Sunday could mark a change to the historically low voter turnout in Swiss federal elections. In the past, turnouts have been below 50%, whereby young people and women were less likely to cast their votes on election day. However, this Sunday, these two groups are expected to make their ways to the ballots or cast their votes via post. This can be partly explained by their dissatisfaction towards current decision-making regarding climate change and gender equality, made noticeable by various climate change protests and a national women strike organised prior to the federal elections.
